and so it begins.....
alright, i finally have to time to sit down a write my blog and a lot has happened.
ok, so its day three and a lot has happened thus far. the first thing was the insanely long flight(s) to get here. after about 20 hours of flight time and which carried me about 9,000 miles traveled i had finally learned a few life lessons:
1. 20 hours is a long time when you are not sleepy
2. babies will always pick the point of no return to start crying
3. morgan freeman's voice doesn't sound as cool when being dubbed over in japanese
4. rice can be served with any meal
5. the chinese can make pickles with soy sauce
so we made it to taiwan!!!!
for the first day we only had one assignment and that was to follow tin man were ever he went in Kaohsiung and so we did...
and we walked
and we walked and we walkeduntil we could walk no more. but along the way we saw some pretty cool things.
like the first catholic church in taiwan

this dragon statue:

its the symbol of Kaohsiung. during festivals it spins 360 degrees every hour and blows smoke.
the love river

:
central river in Kaohsiung
the history museum:

that was located in what used to be the old mayors office.
the flowers represent piece and democracy, because taiwan is still having social problems since the civil war.
and of course we saw shops, scooters, and neat stores....
